The Day the Family Inspectors Came - And Other Good Friends

It was great having everyone at the house Saturday. I wonder when the next time we will have this many people in our dining room again.

Corbin, thanks for all the plowing and shoveling. You are the greatest! 18 inches of snow is tough to get out of a house. Thanks also to the rest of you who helped shovel. Hopefully the roof will be on before the next time it snows!

It was great being together for Emily and JJ's Wedding. We were honored by your presence.

All but a Roof

All the rafters and trusses are now in place. I was hoping for sheeting today too, so I wouldn't have to shovel off the two feet of snow we are supposed to get tonight and tomorrow.

100% chance of snow tonight!

Trusses Today

It was a bit of a stutter-start, but they got the main beam in place today as well as most of the trusses.

Phyllis and I went up early this AM to shovel the snow off the main floor. Hopefully we won't have to do that again right away.

A Big Day

They tried to lift the front panel in place by hand, but found it too heavy to lift with the five guys on the crew. A friend of the framer with a crane, who happened to be in the neighborhood, lifted it into place in a few minutes.

Roof trusses are due (now) on Monday and the crane is scheduled for 10:00 AM. Should be interesting.

Still Going

Some more good progress today. It was 17 degrees this morning so the start was a bit slow, but trusses come tomorrow and the crane is scheduled for Monday - so ........ we'll see.

Winter Visits Again

..And then, last evening, it SNOWED .......... A FOOT!
But they got a good bit of the back wall erected before they had to quit.

I got up early to shovel off the snow so they wouldn't have any excuse but to keep working. They will be working on the front wall tomorrow.

The Great Wall

Well, the wall's almost finished... It was getting a bit tight with the excavator - working within inches of the wall, but these guys could flick lint off your shoulder with that big machine.

The excavator has to be moved to a new site in the AM so they intend to work until they are finished tonight.

Framers come back tomorrow. We'll see what changes another day brings.

A wee bit of snow......

Just another day in paradise!

Not much was happening on the house. They were working on the retaining wall behind the house today but it should be finished tomorrow so I'll post a pic of the finished wall then.

Looking South

The view of the house coming up the driveway. Not much is going to happen now until the materials arrive on Monday.

Today they got a few more panels put in place. The builders have discovered they are short a few panels to finish the walls due to some miscalculations. They are on order but won't be here till Monday. Oh well!
